Great day to work on character art and get thinking about the cover for Volume 3… who will it be this time?? I feel like the more I draw the closer I get to getting Nate’s face the way I picture it. My first attempt for the first book cover was way off! Volume 2, I was much happier with the faces, but it was easier drawing Young Margaret for that one in my opinion.

How Much I Wrote This Week as a Full-Time Author

Total: 9,469 words

This was an extremely productive week for me. I was hitting a flow state most of the week, though I was still careful to slow down and relax later in the week to not overdo it. I try to treat it like running: just because I feel good doesn’t mean I should stray too far off-program. Believe it or not, you can pull a mental muscle just by overextending yourself.

I’m really happy with this week’s turnout. I plan to spend the rest of the weekend refueling mentally with more reading, D&D, and some casual plot outlining. Happy Friday!

This week I’ve been so engrossed in writing, reading, and mapmaking that I somehow missed Bleachers putting out a new song. Anyway, I’ll be finished with The Brothers Karamazov today, and I have to say I have fallen completely in love with the book. Still, I can’t help but be excited to finish because my husband and I are starting Carl’s Doomsday Scenario together 👀 Enjoy the photographic proof of me working and reading and getting interrupted by our cat.

(yes I’m quite aware of what the map looks like beyond a candle in a chamberstick and it is absolutely on purpose this is an urban fantasy romcom after all—emphasis on the com.)

Writer Recap! Last week I managed to squeeze in just under 6k words in spite of all the personal plans we had. Our friends flew in for my husband’s 30th birthday, we played D&D, got tattooed, squeezed in a few runs, got new books, and watched the Super Bowl. My husband’s birthday marks the end of our family’s holiday season—all the plans and visitors from November to February. Weekly Word Count! Here’s how much I wrote in a week as a full-time author (with kids). Honestly, I find my most productive days are the days I do writing sprints. I thought it would affect my headspace during writing, but it really hasn’t! It’s just gotten me more comfortable with squeezing time in and being familiar/confident in my world.
